With over 15 years in the marine industry, we've seen countless times just how damaging the sun and heat can be to your finish. That's why we only use top of the line marine-grade products on our restorations. They hold up better than competitors' products, they're tested and trusted products that we've used for years.
The wash time of your boat can be cut in half with ceramic coating on it. When the surfaces are hydrophobic any dust, dirt, and salt will rinse right off them.
This really depends on what your finish needs. When we look at your finish, we're looking at the little defects, the heavier sunspots, oxidation, and what it's going to take to bring the finish to it's true natural beauty. This helps us determine which products we'll need and how many steps it's going to take to get your finish on point. When we're done prepping your finish for ceramic it's at its best swirl-free state.
Initially the investment is higher than having someone come put wax on your boat, but the ceramic coating is more protective, it increases the value of your boat, and lasts at least 4x as long as wax.
Price and longevity.
If you wax your boat, you know that to keep it maintained requires waxing every 3-4 months. A lot of companies use machines to wax, consistent use of machines overtime may cause some blemishes to your finish (thin spots, swirl marks, etc.).
When we prep your finish for ceramic, we only use the machines we absolutely need to, and we don't need to come back and do it again in 3-4 months. We see our ceramic coatings last well over a year.
Smaller boats usually come back to us after a few years to get recoated and we find a lot of the ceramic still intact & beading. A lot of times these boats are stowed away or put under covers, maintaining the ceramic coating even longer. The bigger yachts tend to be put on the schedule when they're coming out for routine maintenance, usually around the 2–3-year mark, for these we're usually focusing on recoating high sun areas.
If you were looking at side by side estimates for wax vs ceramic, you'd see the wax as being cheaper. However, wax is something you have to reapply every few months. Ceramic is something you have to apply every few years. Typically, we find ceramic to be more cost efficient over a span of 12 months.
No. If you wanted to, we wouldn't stop you. To maintain your swirl-free finish we would caution against how you apply your wax.
Absolutely not. We are not going to tell you we have to wash your boat or come out in X number of months to touch-up or reapply ceramic. Once the ceramic is on it's on. We can suggest products to help you clean your boat, give it extra hydrophobic properties, and leave it with that brilliant shine but we don't require you have us come back to wash or maintain your ceramic coating.
We do on a small scale. Simply meaning we have to have time in our schedule. We do have several boats we take care of on a monthly basis. These are boats that we've coated which makes them a breeze for us to maintain since we know them inside and out.
